Kiwi Portal 1 is a 45 minute unhinged theatrical collage of anecdotes, All-American Melodrama, contemporary dance, an unnamed vintage puppet playing The Voice of Reason, and mystery bottles of yellow liquid. First developed as an audience participatory one-woman show, it is currently being redeveloped as a intergenerational two hander.

Based on a true story of an experiment guided by the kindness of an East Village, self identified aging punk woman, Sullivan eats two kiwis before bed for two months. What she expects to find is the profound and spiritual, however the realization that we are products of circumstance.

The visual and aural language of Kiwi Portal investigates Sullivan’s strained sense of time and place, having been raised in the early 2000s like it was 1965.

Just as in Melodrama, You’ll cheer for the hero (grandpa), boo for the villian (men), and leave with thought provoking questions like ‘dear God how is this woman still alive?’
